The Beginning, The End: OOC

Some back story for the site wide sim.

The Sim focuses on two major powers from Conflicts History: The Shadow Dragon Syndicate and the Shin'Daal. The sim itself is loosely based on the First site wide sim from the MSN Conflicts. First off we will hit the Sim part of it:

The First site wide sim on the MSN group site was called "Distant Threats." The sim was based on the return of a Reborn Emporer. Having been hidden away in a secret base, the emporer had been able to transpher his soul into another clone body. However he also had a weapon of incredible power at his disposal: Another death Star style battle station. This one being 10 times larger then the Second Death Star that was destroyed over Endor. This powerful station had a new and improved superlaser. One that was deadly accurate, powerful enough to destroy a planet (Was used in the sim and was fired with only enough power to destroy a continent whiping out all life in the area and changing the planet from Metropolis to Basic in one shot), and also recharged in two rounds of simming.

This threat split the Empire, half of the fleets joining this Emporer reborn, the other half fighting him. This split caused the birth of a small faction, the Second Imperium. This faction only lasted until the Third Death Star was destroyed. Then it was reabsorbed by the Imperial Remnant. THe politics behind this will be explained later on.

The Galactic Alliance was hit the hardest by the Second Imperium and the Emporer Reborn. Losing a dozen worlds and thousands of ships. The final death toll was staggering: 1000 kms of ships lost, 2.5 Million men dead (from those ships), 4 worlds devistated, and 2 worlds conquered (Coruscant, and Borealis.)

With the GA battling for its survival several other factions sent assistance in one form or the other. For example the Empire sent ships to "Fight" the Second Imperium (again this will be explained later), the SDS sent ships to help in the battle for Coruscant, however the Fleet commander for the GA insulted the SDS commander (the Fleet commanded by Bilbo the Hutt himself) and the SDS fleet withdrew the field. However the SDS still sent arms and armament to help the GA, and eventually agreed with the GA president to send a fleet to help retake Coruscant, just with a different GA commander to work with.

In the End the GA and her allies, or temporary allies, were able to drive the Second Imperium off Coruscant. A few weeks later a Jedi Strike team were able to infultrate and destroy the dreaded battle station.

Politics: Only one faction had any unusual internal politics, and that was the Imperial Remnant. When it became known that the Emporer had been reborn again the Emporer had a difficult decision to make. He knew of the Emporers past and the Evil he was capable of. He also knew that the Reborn Emporer would be the proper leader of the Empire. So he comprimised. Sending part of his fleets to assist the Emporer reborn under the guise of "The Empire won't assist so we are leaving to do it" The officers that were sent were high ranking and trusted officers, selected by the Emporer himself. Their orders were to assist the Emporer Reborn in his campaign, and if the Campaign went well the rest of the Empire would assist. However the Empire would send ships to fight them, their weapons would be over charged with Tibanna gas, and their power would be down to nothing. What this did was give the look of full power weapon shots. Once the Reborn Emporer was defeated the remaining Imperial ships were "re captured" and brought back into Imperial service.

This sim will be similar in it will require several factions to work together. If they don't their losses will be much heavier then a united front. The difference will be instead of a single threat...there will be two.

The Threats the galaxy will come from two super powers that were found on the original Conflicts. The Shadow Dragon Syndicate (SDS) and the Shin'Daal. We will go into some back story for both factions.

Shin'Daal:
Shin'Daal were brought in at the same time as the Centrality Wars. They played a key role in helping defeat the Centrality itself. They were a bio mechanical species who were technolically superior. They were made to be resistant to laser and projectile weapons. Taking far more damage with those types of weapons to take them out. However they were very suceptable to ion weaponry, taking far less damage to disable a ship. Ion cannons would also kill any Shin'Daal soldgier that it impacted. Their flag ship, the Huntress, was a 25 km monster that had enough fire power to take on entire fleets and win.

Created and Lead by Cory (Rhinn Ithkoos, or Kael) they grew to be a large faction on the site. However they didn't take as much part in galactic affairs as the other super group did.
