Ground Battle Rules (Work in progress)

Alright, now, I have no idea how the original site worked combat (I was new, played for a short time, and was never involved in any real battles.)

so this is going to be a brand new, as balanced as possible idea, using some ideas from a few other Star War games, such as Star Wars Rebellion, as well as my own little ideas.

Step one: Unit types

Alright, first off, Unit types. Now, i know there are thousands of different types, from jungle troopers, to space marines, to combat droids. Security, Assault, Commando, Elite, Guard etc. However, I am thinking of using a 'unit type' to help with balancing issues, as well as give certain criteria for R&D development, if possible.

Commando: A small squad of infantry. Usually specialized in one or two forms of combat, and usually skilled at infiltration. Usually used just prior to an attack, they can sabotage defenses, destroy shields, or spread propaganda causing people to look favorable toward them while disfavor toward their enemy's. While skilled in combat, in open pitch battle, they are not as effective.
Weapons: One blaster, one heavy weapon, one explosives, and a specialty (such as jungle combat, or desert, or rabble rousing, sabotage, etc.)
Strong: Buildings, Defenses, Infiltration
Weak: open combat, large scale battles.

Light infantry: Average rank and file of most organizations, they represent common ground troops. Most numerous of troop types, they are usually adaptable for most combat situations, and range far and wide from scouts to troopers.
Weapons: Light weapons, possibly hand held artillery (Light repeating blaster cannon). Sidearm, One equipment (Such as Elctorbinoculars or handheld scanners) radio, and depending on job, light mount (Dewback, Tauntaun, Bantha Speeder bike, ect.) Also, could be separated into designations (Such as the Stormtroopers, Sandtroopers, Snowtroopers, Jungle Troopers etc.)
Strong: Light infantry, Heavy infantry, commandos
Weak: Tracked vehicles, walkers

Heavy Infantry: Infantry that carries portable rockets, artillery (E-Web) mortars and other such heavy equipment fall into this category. Primarily used as anti Vehicle's, they are usually smaller in number, and don't carry as many weapons, as their weapons need two or three people to operate. While strong vs the armor of the enemy, they have need of light infantry to protect them, as their weapons are ill suited for combat against infantry.
Weapons: Heavy weapons, Artillery, power supply. Side arm, (small blaster pistol) Two things of equipment radio.
Strong: Hover, Tracked and Walkers
Weak: Commandos and light Infantry

(thats a start so far. What do you think of the descriptions. I know no real combat rules as yet, but possibly see where its going. I haven't placed any numerical values on anything, because I still need to work on that.)

Alright, sorry for the long delay, I still need to know what kind of combat stats you guys want, but have more descriptions.

Tracked: Any vehicles that have wheels, or treads. Two classes, light and heavy, they differ mainly on armor and manuverability. While on open ground, they are seldom matched by anything, they suffer in uneven terrain, and some terrain isn't even passable. Depending on the vehicle, could be highly armored, high weapon yeild, or light and empty space, such as transports. Usually fill all roles well.
Strong: Light infantry
Weak vs: Walkers, Heavy infantry

Walkers: vehicles that have legs. Mostly used by the Empire, some of the worst monstrosatys were created as such, from the AT-AT, to the AT-ST. Usually, designed for spacific tasks, such aas Anti Air, or Mountin Transport and combat, to forest patrols. Usually armored well, making them inpervious to infanty fire, adn some of the larger ones impervious to all but the most powerful of blasts. However, due to their usually limited fireing arc, they are weak from airbourn and fast attacks.
Strong: Tracked, Base Defences
Weak: Hover/fighters

Hovercraft: Usually designated into two types. Combat Craft, such as snowspeeders, speederbikes, swoops and skiffs. The other are more like transports, such as Jaba' s sail barge. Combat craft are usually armored and have blasters or other forms of weaponry attached, depending on the mission and design. Some have to stay a short way off the ground, others can go higher into the sky. However, the one thing that makes them diffrent from fighters, is their need to have the repolsor lifts toward the ground, making rolls and things impossible. Transports are usually much larger, with minimum armament and armor. This makes them prime targets for other vehicles, but also make it easy to go about almost any form of terrain with little or no difficulty.
Strong vs: walkers, tracked
Weak vs: Heavy infantry, Base defence, Fighters.

Thats all up to you. Obviously Walkers and tracks would he heavier and stronger then Hovercraft, but hovercraft are faster, and more agile.

Well, again, i had neer battled on the old site, so I am not aware of what kind of stat system we are using persay... so i don't know waht kind of bonuses to give what. Right now, i am just sorta giving out a base outline and description for the various types of craft and units, and wahat is basically good against another. No buildings yet, figure that will be done in R&D or somesuch, but anyhow, bedtime. I should be back on sometime tomarrow.

Old site we had simply had classes of ground troops and vehicles. Similar to what you have now. Sadly the old ground battle rules weren't used. most factions gave the planets rather then fight for them all the way down. This time they will be strongly encouraged to fight on the ground.

Well, teh space battles did seem to have more to them then the ground ones in the rule sections. however, I will keep going with this as best I can. Starting another work cyclee, so I won't be on, however, if there were no real stats persay, then I think I am mostly done with this. Each faction would have its own paticular units that would mainboard as each type...

On the front and back of the vehicle are two mechanical folding arms that, as well as providing stability when in motion can also fold out to become ‘legs’ to allow the vehicle a more adaptable design. The wheels themselves are covered in retractable spikes that enable the bike to traverse difficult gradients, it is also possible for a skilled pilot to traverse a near sheer climb or descent, although only a few have ever managed it.

Description: The marine is the space-borne element of the Army. Loaded onto troop transport they usually blow a hole in the enemy ship and get in through there. Once inside they wreak haoc taking out major systems using detonation packs and whatever explosives they can find onboard. They can also be used to board and capture enemy vessels although this is not favoured tatic because landing that many troops on one ship would be entirely too difficult

Description: The marine is the space-borne element of the Army. Loaded onto troop transport they usually blow a hole in the enemy ship and get in through there. Once inside they wreak haoc taking out major systems using detonation packs and whatever explosives they can find onboard. They can also be used to board and capture enemy vessels although this is not favoured tatic because landing that many troops on one ship would be entirely too difficult
