History: Originally a regular army unit. The Crimson Guard was the unit charged with defending Kashyyyk during the height of the Galactic Civil War. During their tour of duty they kept Kashyyyk under control. When they left it started to get out of hand. They were about ready to redeploy back when the Rebels defeated Grand Admiral Syn and his task force. Since then they have been one of the most used units in the Empire. They soon earned elite status. When the reborn emperor took control they were assigned to Executor Sedriss as his personal unit. A large contingent of the Guards was killed on Ossus during a battle with New Republic Forces. What remained of the unit retreated to rebuild. They continued to serve as one of the Empires elite even though the rough years. Pellaeon valued the unit and used them only during very important assignments. It remained that way during the Vong war where they fought side by side their old enemy.
The Crimson Guard remained as an elite unit but was losing some luster since they wouldn’t back any Moff or political figure. About the only two individuals they reasonably backed were Draco Lucius and Jason McKnight. When they were paired with Jason (posing as Darth Revan before becoming the Emperors Hand) they were given essentially a suicide mission as punishment for not backing any particular political hopeful (even the current emperor). Revan lead the Guard in one of the most spectacular fighting withdraws and counter attacks in Imperial Army history defeating a much larger force. While the Guard was again decimated they still won and swore fealty to Revan. Seeing no choice the Emperor allowed them to remain under Revan’s command. Even after the emperors death and Draco’s rise to become emperor the guard remains under Revans command. They recieve the best in equipment and wherever Revan goes they fallow.
The current unit streagth is double that of a normal regiment plus one more dedicated artillery battalion and attached fighter support. Due to the unit size it tanks 2 Assault ships to carry them into battle currently they are the only self sustaining unit in the Imperial Army.
