President Krieg Hamat, Supreme Commander of Alliance military forces and President of the Senate, reclined in his high backed chair. The Corellian leather comforted his aching back from a day of standing. A long lobby in the Senate left the Duros drained, but he decided to push through the day instead of retire early. While he had the option to he didn't like to cancel any meetings or miss anything important that might occur throughout the rest of the day.

Today, especially, was one of those days where he was glad of his choice to remain. General Roan Kor was patched through, the Fleet Admiral of the Alliance Navy. The small hologram of the honorary General appeared on his desk. Krieg sat forward, adjusting his uniform. "General, what brings you calling today?"

General Roan Kor, Fleet Admiral of the Alliance Navy, a Leutenant General of the Army, and a Jedi Master looked grim. "Not good. Commodore Snibit brought back disturbing images. It seams our old neighbors may be finally coming out of their shells. The Emperor's Sword Super Star Destroyer and an esscort of Imperial X and Torpedo Spheres completly annihilated a fleet of ships close to our boarders at the planet Carratos. By the time the Fast Responce Fleet arrived the imperial fleet was forming up to leave. No survivors were found. From what our intel agents inside the empire are telling us there has been an extreme shift in military and political policy."

Krieg's eyebrows cocked suspiciously. The Remnant hadn't been active in the galaxy lately, and the closeness of their strike was disturbing. He paused, contemplating the Alliance's next move. "Hmm. Put Commodore Trubor on the investigation of the strike. Devote his fleet to the intentions of the Imperial fleet and what their target was. Put the 34th Task Force of the 2nd Fleet on standby in lieu of the rapid response. Put all vessels on yellow alert that are within the perimeter of the strike."

Krieg stopped. "I believe I'm going to dispatch a diplomatic envoy to Carratos, hopefully with Jedi support. If necessary we may need to put fleet support in orbit. I believe that'll be all, General."

Hamat paused, waiting for hear the final remarks of the Fleet Admiral if he had any.

Kor nodded. His plan on having Snibit investigate is a good idea. He was a good officer wth good insticts. The females on the capital will be relieved that he was leaving. The 34th Task Force was a Galactic Battle Carrier and its two Armadia Thurstship esscorts. That should provide some decent back up for the commodore. "It will be done. On the political side this probably wont turn out all that well. We were slow to respond. The Empire will look like their savior. Having jedi support will help but it will be an up hill struggle on about anything you do."

Hamat nodded. "I'll be getting in contact with Master Rekat soon. We might need a small escort for that diplomatic party; I'm not going to risk the loss of a whole envoy over our appearing overly trustworthy. Thank you for the report, Admiral. Keep me advised if any more word is heard on the Remnant's appearances and movements."

Only a few minutes had passed after the conference with the Fleet Admiral when a distress signal was dispatched directly to the Supreme Commander, from Fleet Captain Jesse Davids. The Captain was the commanding officer of the planetary defense force of the basic world Balmorra, and they were apparently under attack by a relatively large pirate fleet. Krieg took in the situation quickly. "Alert Admiral Olix to leave with the 3rd fleet immediately. His ship, focusing on capital ships, will crush this pirate incursion. Put the fleet on red alert standby and prepare the 1st Fleet to be launched if neccessary. I'll be traveling to the Paladin soon to coordinate the attacks."

The orders would be carried out; the sovereignty of the Alliance was challenged, and Hamat would put them back in their place.

“Admiral, we will be dropping out of hyperspace in 10 seconds at Coruscant.”

“Thank you Lieutenant. Please bring us out in the appropriate approach vector. I would not want us to give those Golans any reason to test their itchy trigger fingers.”

Adan’s words were only half joking. He knew that Coruscant had been secure ever since the Vong had relinquished control over it. Still, he didn’t like to give any force a reason to attack. Ten seconds scrolled by very quickly and Adan just stood on the command deck of the Indomitable, looking out the viewports at the white lines of hyperspace going back. As the timer hit zero, the long white lines resolved back into pinpoints of stars and the mighty Mon Cal Cruiser dropped back to realspace. There, in the middle of the view port and surrounded by ships to numerous to count or recognize. Adan was glad he decided to leave the rest of the 4th fleet behind at a staging point just outside of the Coruscant System.

Immediately the ship was hailed.

“Indomitable, this is Coruscant Space Control. Please send authorization code for shield and purpose.”

Adan nodded to the communications officer who opened a channel to respond. “CSC, this is Vice Admiral Adan Kolar. I have a meeting with Supreme Commander Hamat. Issuing code now.”

Adan reached down and typed in his code and hit the transmit button. He waited the few seconds for it to be verified and then…

“Welcome to Coruscant, Admiral Kolar. You have been cleared for Military HQ. Please follow beacon 276-A9Delta.”

“Thank you CSC. Indomitable out.”

Adan turned the Captain of the Indomitable, a Duros named Ikthoos. “Captain, you have command of the Indomitable until I return.” The Duros saluted and then Adan made his way to his shuttle. During that time, he thought about only one thing… the one thing that occupied his mind when it wasn’t the downfall of the Empire… his sister Aura. It had been almost 3 months since he had had a vision/dream of her and he was getting worried that something might have happened.

The shuttle dropped from the bottom of the cruiser and as the pilot dropped down into the atmosphere, Adan was looking over a datapad that had the latest updates and performance reviews of the ships and crew under his command. The War Dog, one of the Interdictors was suffering from a faulty projector in one of the Gravity Well Domes and had put in to the repair yards at Kuat. It would be there for a few weeks. The rest of the information was the mundane maintenance crap that usually bored him to tears. Only his single-mindedness allowed him to get through it. Lost in the stream of data, it was only when the sunlight was blocked by the wings folding up, that Adan realized they were landing.

The ship set down with a slight bump and Adan hit the release on his restraints and made his way to the ramp. It was already down when he approached and he descended the ramp. He was at one of the Officer’s Landing Pads, that much was sure. It was more secure and closer to the officers’ quarters. Tugging on his uniform, he made sure his sidearm was secure and then he entered the maze of complexes and buildings that made up the High Command’s Military Complex. It had been rebuilt since the time of the Vong Occupation and was breathtaking to behold.

After about 10 minutes, he was finally at the blast doors that led to High Command’s Offices. He submitted to a Retinal Scan and then a bio scan before being cleared through the doors.

At last, he was at the door of Supreme Commander Hamat, waiting to be announced.

[tag Hamat]

With a nod Kor signed out and went to work. Orders were cut and were sent out to the approprate individuals. While he thought his boss's heart was in the right place he wasnt so sure that this was going to work. It was just one of those feelings.

Rear Admiral Csapl'Aro'nuruodo, or better known as Laron, walked down the halls of High Command military complex. He had just finished a six-month tour that had consisted of him and his staff analyzing the Alliance's perimeter defenses and was now Loran was looking to get back into space on board an actual warship. As usual, as he walked down the wood-furnished hallway he couldn't help miss the glaciers of Csilla. It had been a long time since he had been on his homeworld, but it would probably be a lot longer before he got the chance to return. And that was assuming that the Chiss would accept him, which they probably wouldn't due to what they saw as betrayal. How they could view what he was trying to accomplish as treason was both beyond him and it also made perfect sense. Such contradicting feelings...

He mentally shook those thoughts from his mind. He had work to do and he was going to do it to the best of his capabilities. Finally he made to the president's entrance chamber, submitting to the retinal and bio scans that came with it. As he came to the final set of doors he saw one of his collegues, Alan Kolar. Loran came up to him and said, "Greetings Vice Admiral. Meeting with the Supreme Commander?"

Admiral Kolar looked up at the blue skinned being that had addressed him. He hadn't seen him in almost a year... their jobs taking them to different sections of the galaxy. Even if Kolar hadn't recognized Loran's voice, just seeing him made it obvious who he was. There were not many Chiss running around the galaxy. To be here meant that you were exiled from your people. Kolar reached over and shook his hand as the great door opened. The assistant, who herself was a Captain, nodded to them. "You may both enter. He is ready to see you."

Kolar nodded and walked through the doors. Standing up at the other side of the desk was Supreme Commander Hamat. Kolar pulled up behind one of the leather chairs and snapped off a salute. "Admiral Adan Kolar, reporting in as ordered sir."

Csapl'Aro'nuruodo nodded to the captain and walked in after the Vice Admiral. He looked around and internally sighed. Laron had never understood the need to extensively decorate an office, especially refined furniture. All his previous offices were spartan in appearance. He stood behind the chair next to Admiral Kolar and saluted, "Rear Admiral Csapl'Aro'nuruodo reporting sir."

While Loran waited for the Supreme Commander to respond to him and the Vice Admiral, he began running through what he all wanted to discuss with him. Loran felt that the perimeter defenses were significantly weaker than they should be. Plus, in his typical fashion of overdoing his tasks, he has come to believe that not only must the 3rd fleet be reorganized so that it is more flexible than it is currently able to achieve, but emphasis must be placed on orbital platforms for defending Alliance worlds, allowing the fleets to spread themselves out further without compromising the whole. On top of all that, Csapl'Aro'nuruodo wanted to follow up on the Prometheus Fleet Carrier and begin a Fleet Modernization Program for the GADF. There were a number of ships that were outdated and needed to be either refitted or redesigned completely. He had his work cut out for him if he wished to convince the supreme commander.

Hamat noticed a light turn on that officers were waiting to see him. "Karen, please admit the Admirals." The Duros reclined back in his seat and prepared for their entrance.

As the Zabrak and Chiss entered Krieg smiled warmly at the two. Up and coming officers, they would prove to be the bright future of the Alliance. "Please, gentlemen, sit. I have some good news for both of you." Krieg pulled out a datapad and activated the computer console, syncing the two. "As you can see, the resources of the 4th Fleet have been spread. Your appointment to Commanding Officer has only been recent, Adan, and your work so far has been exemplary. None the less, I, along with Fleet Command, feel that you need a strong right hand." Krieg turned to Loran. "Admiral, your work has been recognized, and I feel that putting you in higher positions of power is in the best interests of the Alliance. Therefore, I hereby promote you to Executive Officer of the 4th Fleet. I'll be watching you closely in the coming days, as the 3rd awaits a permanent commander."

Krieg winked at the young officer, and then turned back to both. "I'm sure you two must be here for more than just this news, as it could have been delivered over hologram. How can I help you both?"

Csapl'Aro'nuruodo sat down and leaned forward.

"Thank you sir. I'll do what I can to prove that your confidence is not unfounded. But you are correct in that I feel that we have far more pressing matters to discuss. As you well know, I have spent the past six months overseeing a task force researching out perimeter defenses and we have come to the conclusion that they were far too weak if we wish to mount a proper defence from any outside attack. Here are the detailed results of our research." He handed the supreme commander a datapad. "As you'll see as you go through, I have made a number of recommendations as to correct the problem. Firstly we should begin construction of several orbital platforms. Once completed, we'll be able to rotate our mobile assests into the main fleet and give ourselves more flexibity in the event of a crisis. To supplmement the platforms I mentioned, we should construct a number of ground-based anti-orbital cannons. I've recently learned of an advanced ion cannon that is rumored to be able to knock out a star destroyer in one punch? If so, we should definitly begin mass-production.

"Also I feel that we need to reorganize the entire 3rd Fleet. Don't get me wrong, it possesses a great deal of firepower and carries a large compliment of fighter squadrons. However, I believe that it lacks the flexibity needed to operate effectively against either pirates or Imperials. Which actually brings me to another point. I saw the plans for the Prometheus-class Fleet Carrier and I couldn't help but be impressed. However, it did occur to me that the bulk of the ship designs in our navy are at least fifteen years old. The New Republic Defense Force commissioned a New Class Modernization Program roughly forty years ago and they have performed admirably since they've been in service. However, they are rapidly being overwhelmed by more advanced warships. I believe that the time has come for a Fleet Modernization Program, which emphasis placed on improving our star destroyers, cruisers, frigates, and our more compact fighter carriers. I actually have some preliminary designs if you wish to take a look at them." He took a quick breath, handed a second datapad to him, waited for the Supreme Commander's response. He had put some serious thought into this, and hoped the commander would hear him further.

Krieg took a quick look at the specs on the datapad. From the things he noticed he came up with a response. "Transmit these specififcations to the Engineering Corps, Admiral. While your specs on paper seem good they could be harder to produce weapon and fighter wise. Command appreciates your initative." He smiled and nodded at the two. "Both of you are dismissed. Good day, gentlemen."

Laron nodded his head and took back the datapad. He saluted to the Duros and followed the vice admiral out the door. As they walked out the door he opened a line to the Engineering Corps and transmitted a list of the specs he had developed so they could go over them. Once he finished that he turned to Kolar and asked, "So Admiral, what's next sir? Any assignments for me?
